Which medical expenses are eligible for reimbursement?

Medical care isn't just received in hospital. That's why we also reimburse medical costs within a certain period before and after admission, provided that:

  • the INAMI (Belgian National Institute for Illness-Disability Insurance) recognises the costs;
  • the costs are directly associated with the cause for admission.
This is referred to outpatient care – medical care you receive that you don't always have to go to hospital for. This could be:

  • medication
  • medical fees (GP, specialist, etc.)
  • paramedical fees (physiotherapist, orthopaedist, etc.);
  • nursing and home care;
  • prostheses and orthopaedic materials (glasses, contact lenses, crutches (rental), etc.).
  • etc.

Please see your contract or the guarantees under your hospital plan for the exact conditions of reimbursement.
